Collective Bargaining
Expert MSEC negotiators are available to act as your representative
or your consultant in the contract negotiation process with local
unions and their internationals. We have bargained thousands of
labor agreements under which members were able to prosper.
Grievance and Arbitration Hearings
MSEC provides day-to-day assistance in administering a labor agreement,
including grievance handling. Grievances that are not settled by
the parties frequently lead to formal arbitration hearings. Our
attorneys offer experienced, successful advocacy to prepare and present
arbitration cases.
Strike Assistance
MSEC professionals have helped management, employees, law enforcement
officials and customers through countless strikes against member
companies. We can help minimize the impact of a strike or picketing,
replace the workforce and maintain order throughout the entire stressful
process.
Unfair Labor Practice Charges
We assist employers with the full range of services related to unfair
labor practice charges filed with the NLRB by unions or employees.
The vast majority of these charges are resolved without expensive
litigation, costly back pay settlements or other consequences negative
to the employer. Initially, we counsel the employer on how to avoid
unfair labor practice charges. If charges are filed, we represent
the employer in the investigatory stages, in trials before an Administrative
Law Judge and on appeal to the NLRB. We will also assist employers
in filing charges against illegal union activity.
Union Organizing Drives
Should a union seek to organize a non-union employer, the Labor
Relations attorneys consult with the employer to preserve union-free
status. We play an active coaching role throughout the entire process,
working with management to foster pro-employer attitudes among employees. We guide
managers through the intricate requirements of the National Labor
Relations Board (NLRB), which governs employer/union conduct during
these difficult times. In addition, we handle NLRB hearings that
may result. For unionized employers, we assist with decertification
elections.
