Overview
MSEC trainers and performance consultants are highly skilled professionals with first-hand experience in the business world. They are recognized for their energetic presentation styles and commitment to helping employees perform more effectively. Our Organizational Development and Learning staff is available to discuss your training needs, help you select and customize programs and evaluate their usefulness to your organization.

Briefing Sessions
Throughout each year, MSEC holds special briefing sessions to provide our members with the latest information on topics of significant importance to the workplace. As specific legislation is passed, or as new economic or management data become available, we hold these sessions to communicate and discuss how the employer is affected.

Business Training Library
MSEC and its business partner the Business Training Library offer your business the opportunity to meet additional employee development needs through participation in a multi-media lending library. Choose from more than 1,000 business skill titles and even more exclusively for computer professionals. This is a low-cost way to supplement your company's training program.

Executive Leadership Program
MSEC's year-long Executive Leadership Development Program will enhance your leaders' professional contributions to your organization. This unique, life- and career-changing program uses a contextual style of learning that captures the rich experiences of leaders, while providing a catalyst to build leadership skill sets. We apply the integrated process of learning to the workplace environment. Participants will interact in a safe, highly provocative and practical environment with leader colleagues who face similar challenges.

Major Conferences
The Council hosts several annual conferences regarded by members as "don't miss" events: the HR Best Practices, held in April; the Annual Employment Law Update, held in May and the Autumn Agenda, held in November. In addition, other conferences are held throughout the year on various topics of interest.

Member Roundtables
Throughout each year, MSEC members are invited to attend Roundtables on topics of significance in human resources. These sessions draw together employers with a common area of interest, provide "best practices" ideas, and allow participants to share information and network with business peers.

Organization Development Certificate Program
HR professionals are redefining their practice, moving from the traditional model of providing pre-packaged services within an organization to becoming strategic partners with managers and their business units.

PHR/SPHR Study Course
Certification can be a deciding factor when an individual is being considered for internal promotion or a position with another employer. This may be the time for you to earn your Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). Consider these points as you assess your need for professional development and career advancement:

  • Certification is gaining importance as a national standard of competence and experience in a competitive marketplace.
  • PHR and SPHR certification from HRCI have gained national recognition for both professional and personal achievement. They are granted only when a HR professional has demonstrated mastery of both technical operational knowledge and comprehension of contemporary management concepts and practices.
  • The study process will challenge you to demonstrate or strengthen the core competencies of your profession.

SPHR Boot Camp
If you prefer an immersion approach with a small group of seasoned HR professionals, this program is for you. This one-week intensive study program consists of exercises and practice exams designed for senior HR Professionals. Subject matter experts who have successfully mastered the SPHR exam will lead the group exercises and discussions. The session breakdowns are based on SPHR specifications and percentages. All participants must verify a minimum of six years of exempt level experience.

PHR/SPHR MSEC Self Study System
The self-study system includes all the materials from the study course, including reading materials, study guides and practice exams. Also included are test-taking tips and a study timeline. The System is tailored to allow Human Resource professionals to prepare at their own pace for either the PHR or SPHR exam. For more information, please e-mail er@msec.org.

Regional Programs
For MSEC members outside the Denver area, our seminars are offered on a regional basis in Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction, Colorado.

Seminars and Workshops
A comprehensive program of almost 200 regularly scheduled seminars offers basic and advanced training in many different business areas. To help members decide which classes are most appropriate, many seminars are organized around Certificate Programs. Emphasis is placed on small classes and experiential learning. Our goal is to conduct practical programs with information and skills that transfer easily to the workplace.
