2008 Health Care Reform: Across the Nation and Colorado!
ID#: SPEC 525

Health care moves to center stage as no longer just a human resource issue, but a business issue with state and national implications for employers. While there is great discussion nationally on this issue for the 2008 election year, there is much action occurring on the state level, including Colorado. Change is coming in one form or another and the question is what that change is going to look like for businesses. This program will explore this issue and what we may expect.

Facilitators:
Len Nichols
Director, Health Policy Program, the New American Foundation, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Nichols is a highly respected health care economist and national speaker and advisor on health care policy. He has testified frequently before Congress and state legislators and has published widely in a variety of health-related journals. Nichols will address the current political climate and the probability for national reform. During the election year, this is important information to have before heading to the polls as both a citizen and business person. He will also discuss proposals and changes in other states that may influence changes on the national stage, as well as in Colorado.

William Lindsay III
CLU, CEBS, RPA, President, Lockton Benefit Group-Denver, Lockton Companies, LLC

Bill Lindsay is both a nationally and locally recognized leader in health care reform. As chair of Colorado's Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform, he will discuss the deliberations of the Commission and the various alternatives that were considered in drafting the final report to the General Assembly. His focus will be the implications for business, and considerations that the business community needs to weigh when considering state based health reform.
